About
I started PMG because I was tired of being one of the few, if not the only, black project managers in the organizations I worked for. The project management certification requires 3-5 years of project management experience to sit for the exam, but companies often hesitate to give project managers experience without certification. I noticed that many project managers had gained their positions through personal connections and mentorship, leading to limited exposure in underrepresented communities who do not have access to these type of relationships.

With PMG, my aim was to address these challenges and create a more equitable landscape in project management. I recognized the Catch-22 situation where experience was required for certification, but certification was necessary for job titles and opportunities. To overcome this, I provided comprehensive education and hands-on training. This not only introduces them to the world of project management but it helps build their resumes to increase opportunities of gaining the cumulative experience to sit for the exam or fulfill minimum experience requirements at larger organizations.
While the journey is challenging, I firmly believe that by addressing the lack of Project Management education, exposure, and mentorship, we can pave the way for a more inclusive future in project management. In sharing my mission, I came across individuals within other career fields who were experiencing the same issue and wanted to help expand PMG's career development options. Since then, we have expanded to offer opportunities in Marketing, Business Consulting, and Event Planning.
